Step-by-step process:

1. High Voltage Delivery: The ignition coil sends a high-voltage current (20,000–100,000+ volts) to the spark plug's central electrode.
2. Ionization: This voltage builds until it overcomes the insulating properties of the air-fuel mixture in the electrode gap, ionizing the gas.
3. Spark Generation: The ionized gas becomes a conductor, allowing current to jump the gap, creating a brief but intense electrical arc (a "spark").
4. Ignition & Combustion: This spark ignites the fuel-air mixture, creating a rapid expansion of gas.
5. Power Stroke: The pressure from this mini-explosion pushes the piston down, producing the mechanical energy that drives the engine.

​Installation Steps:

1. Remove Old Plug: Pull off the spark plug wire or ignition coil boot (it should click off). Unscrew the old spark plug with your socket and extension.
2. Prep New Plug (Optional): Apply a tiny dab of anti-seize to the threads (avoiding electrodes) for easier removal next time, and a bit of dielectric grease inside the boot for a better seal.
3. Hand-Thread: Carefully screw the new plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading. Turn it at least two full turns until snug.
4. Torque: Use the spark plug socket and torque wrench to tighten to your vehicle's specific torque setting (check your manual). If no torque wrench, tighten about 1/8 to 1/16 turn past hand-tight, being careful not to overtighten (which can crack porcelain or strip threads).
5. Reconnect: Push the coil/wire back onto the plug until it clicks securely.
6. Repeat: Move to the next cylinder, one at a time, until all are done.
7. Finalize: Reconnect the battery terminal.

• Don't Cross-Thread: Hand-threading is crucial to avoid damaging expensive engine cylinder head threads.
• Don't Overtighten: This can crack the plug or strip threads.
• One at a Time: Prevents mixing up ignition wires, which causes misfires
