  Judith McCann was an American jewelry designer and artist born in Trenton, Tennessee. She studied at the School of Fine Arts at George Washington University and became known in the mid‑20th century for her innovative jewelry designs, including her patented Wingback earring mechanism and Shuv‑on necklace concept. Her designs were produced primarily from the 1940s through the 1960s, and many pieces were made in the United States. The Shuv‑on necklace was intended to be worn in multiple ways thanks to its clever clasp system. McCann retired in 1964 due to health reasons and passed away in 1965, though her brand continued for some years after.
