AGED PATINA WWI US M1917 ENFIELD REMINGTON TRENCH BAYONET SCABBARD REPRODUCTIONUpdate 9-13-25-I finally got an order of these to age and sell. IMA has been out of stock since April 2025 (probably a tariff thing?)
HERE GOES MY INDEPTH DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM:
- All photos are of the actual scabbard you will receive. This one: 03-07-26
- UPDATE 2-19-26. I used to do 2 coats of leather dye, both dark brown. Now I use one dark brown and the second coat black dye. To me it looks more like a 100+ year old scabbard. I hope you agree.
- The oil is still a little wet(shiny), it will dry some before you get it. This one has 2 coats brown dye, they seem to get a little darker...less red tone.
- I buy these from IMA and strip off the green paint, stain the leather dark brown, use gun blue to age/rust the steel.
- I then use gun oil (LSA WEAPONS OIL MEDIUM) on leather and steel...gives it a nice military smell, haha.
- I use a dremel and a cone shaped carbon steel bit to enlarge the blade opening.
- These are guaranteed to fit your M1917 bayonet-even if it's a reproduction (new and fat).
- Length-scabbard overall length is 17.5 inches, fits a 17 inch M-1917 blade.
- The steel wool is included in case you want more of a gun barrel look on the steel.
- These are a labor of love that I first began 3 or so years ago for my M1917 Remington bayonets, The old scabbards don't last like the blades do!
- You can probably dye the leather darker with black? Or another coat of dark brown leather dye. I use FIEBINGS brand.
