This piece is a chairback salvaged from a late Victorian-Edwardian era cane seated side/ dining chair that was broken beyond repair. It has been stored in my family's century and a half old farm barn for over 50 years. The original finish had deteriorated to a sandy-flaky consistency. This chairback has been scrubbed with a stiff bristle brush and warm soapy water to get the barn dust and dirt off, but there is still some residual original finish remaining. If desired it will likely come off easily with a light sanding.
Chair back salvaged from a chair that was beyond repair. Residual of old dark finish remains after a good scrubbing. All spindles intact. All wood pieces intact.
