Up for sale is a fascinating estate find consisting of a diverse collection of vintage medical instruments and early 20th-century grooming tools. This lot is perfect for a medical history collector, steampunk artist, or vintage shaving enthusiast.
Included in this Lot: Schimmelbusch Anesthesia Mask: A classic wire-mesh "teardrop" frame used for ether or chloroform administration. The spring-loaded frame is intact. Valet Auto-Strop Safety Razor Set: Includes the original purple-lined metal case, the silver-tone razor head, and an original box of Valet Auto-Strop blades. Becton, Dickinson & Co. (B-D) Special Needles: Two original cardboard boxes (Rutherford, N.J.) containing vintage medical needles. Medical Aspirator/Bulb: Vintage rubber bulb with glass/metal attachments and tubing. Surgical Scissors & Tools: Includes a pair of long-handled surgical scissors, a small metal oiler, a specialized wrench, and various metal probes/cannulas. Honing Stone/Strop Block: A heavy rectangular block likely used for sharpening surgical or shaving blades.
Condition Note: These items are being sold as historical collectibles/curiosities only and are not intended for modern medical use. Metalware: Shows some expected patina and surface wear consistent with age, but no heavy rust. Rubber Components: The bulb and tubing show some signs of age-related hardening/cracking [Note: If they are still soft, change this to "Rubber remains surprisingly flexible"]. Case: The Valet razor case has some exterior scuffing but the interior velvet remains vibrant.
