DATE PRINTED: 1891 from a plate first published in 1861.

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 18.5 x 14.5 cm, 7.25 x 5.75 inches (medium) plus margins with a blank back.   

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraving by G.M. Kurz from a study by Ludwig Rohbock (Nuremberg 1820 - 1883 Nuremberg). Little or nothing is known about the life of Ludwig Rohbock, but it is known that he made a large number of very refined drawings of landscapes, cities, etc. in Germany and the Netherlands, among others. 

PROVENANCE: Published in "Das Kaiserthum Österreich." by, C. Neuland, Frankfurt/Main 1891. An historical work that is known for its' detailed steel engravings by Rohbock. It documents views of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

TYPE: Antique steel plate engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.

CONDITION: Very good. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian paper is subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  Sighișoara (Hungarian: Segesvár ; German: Schäßburg ; Transylvanian Saxon: Schäsbrich, Šesburχ, or Scheeßprich; Yiddish: שעסבורג, romanized: Shesburg; Latin: Castrum Sex or Saxoburgum) is a city on the Târnava Mare River in Mureș County, central Romania. Located in the historic region of Transylvania, Sighișoara. It is a popular tourist destination for its well-preserved old town, which is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1999. The town administers seven villages: Angofa, Aurel Vlaicu, Hetiur, Rora, Șoromiclea, Venchi, and Viilor.
