Antique Globe-Wernicke Barrister Bookcase with Drawer Base

Antique stacking barrister bookcase featuring four glass-front sections with lift-up doors. These sectional bookcases were designed so additional units could be stacked as libraries expanded.

This example features a Globe-Wernicke oak crown and base with drawer, along with four stacking sections.

Mixed stacks are common with barrister bookcases since the sections were manufactured to be interchangeable.

Originally used in law offices, libraries, and professional studies, these cases allowed books to be stored behind glass while protecting them from dust.
