Up for auction is a stunning **Antique French Crystal Newel Staircase Post Ball (Boule d’Escalier)** featuring elegant French cut work and a beautifully executed 10-sided faceted design.

This impressive architectural piece measures approximately **7" tall and 4" in diameter**, with a **2.75" diameter brass base**. It weighs a solid **2 pounds**, reflecting the quality and density of the crystal.

The crystal is exceptionally clear with sharp, well-defined faceting that captures and reflects light beautifully. These **Boule d’Escalier** were traditionally mounted at the base of staircases in fine French homes during the 19th and early 20th centuries. They served both as decorative architectural elements and as statements of elegance and craftsmanship. The quality of the cutting and clarity of the crystal suggest it could possibly be **massif Baccarat**, though it is unmarked and therefore being sold as attributed.

Comparable examples are highly sought after for restoration projects, grand staircases, or repurposing as dramatic decorative accents.

I currently have a couple of smaller examples listed in separate auctions, so be sure to check those out as well if you’re looking for a matched or complementary set.
