DATE PRINTED: 1831.

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 13.5 x 10.5 cm, 5.25 x 4.25 inches (small) plus margins.  

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER:  Engraved by Robert Acon (1792-1880) from an original study by John Preston Neale. John Preston Neale (1780–1847) was an English architectural and landscape draughtsman. Much of his work was drawn, although he produced the occasional watercolour or oil painting. His drawings were used on a regular basis by engravers. A major work, the Views of the seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland was published in 6 volumes.  

PROVENANCE: Published in “Views of the Seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England” (London : 1829-1831).

TYPE: Antique copper plate engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.

CONDITION: Good, suitable for framing.  Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian paper is subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Blairquhan (Scots: Blairwhan) is a Regency era castle near Maybole in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It was the historic home of the Hunter-Blair Baronets and remained in the family's possession until 2012, when it was sold to a Chinese company. Blairquhan is protected as a Category A listed building, and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.[
