Here we have a simply stunning 19th Century oil on panel by Jacob Maris, the painting depicts a Dutch harbour town possibly Dordrecht. He was a central member of The Hague School and developed a formidable reputation as one of the key landscape painters of the 19th-century Netherlands.

This painting is a typical example of the artist’s work of Dutch scenes using thick layers of paint applied in broad gestures, a new technique he introduced and loved. This is a very impressive painting which would grace any wall in your home.

This was acquired from a Private Collection, London. Originally purchased by that family from the previous owner in the early/mid 20th Century so has been in the same ownership for over 90 years.
