A pair of early Royal Dux bisque figures of young peasant water carriers, with gilt highlights, in excellent antique condition with no damage or repairs.
Each piece carries the distinctive Royal Dux pink triangle mark, dating them between 1860 -1910, the first period of production. This is signified by the impressed 'E' for Eduard Eichler, who founded the factory in Dux, Bohemia during 1860.
Royal Dux was established in the then Bohemian city of Dux (now Duchov, Czech Republic), the Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur, established in 1860 manufacturing figurines and other ceramics, in the Neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles. By the end of the 19th century, production was predominantly porcelain centrepieces, neoclassical busts, large figurines and ornate vases with three-dimensional figures in relief. The mark changed to read Czechoslovakia after WW1. Currently, Royal Dux is part of the Czesky Porcelan (Czech Porcelain) group.
