ULTRA RARE INTERESTING THAI RECORDING ON THE D. COUPER-JOHNSTON LABEL.

I can find very little about this label or record from Thailand.  There are sixteen D. Couper-Johnston 10" 78 RPMs listed on discogs, but only two show any user holdings, none have a sales record, and all show "Unknown" for date of release. I found an online article which describes Thai 78 recordings, which talked about this label along with all other labels and information about the era of 78's in Thailand.  They indicated that their catalog used DCJ when the label began, again without identifying a year, and then "BAT" when the label rebranded as Khang Khao.

This listing is for a Khang Khao record, with a catalog number of BAT 25. The record was found in a Ni012ppon Columbia sleeve from Japan.  That sleeve is in Very Good Condition and the record will be removed from the sleeve and stored separately.  A translation of one label side using my phone's Google translator indicates that the performers are a "Piphat Ensemble".  AI describes this type of group as, " The Thai Piphat ensemble is a classical music group characterized by its prominent use of percussion (idiophones/membranophones) and wind instruments, playing a central role in Thai court, religious, and theatrical traditions."

The record itself is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with a lot of clean vinyl for a 78 RPM, and only a faint scratch or scuff can be seen amid the clean grooves.  I would grade it NM but it is, in any case, a 78 RPM, so I'll be conservative in my grade.

ULTRA RARE AND COLLECTIBLE!!
