The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (Gale), code-named "Frank" by the Allies, was a high-performance, single-seat fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service in the latter stages of World War II, widely regarded as Japan's best mass-produced fighter, combining speed, manoeuvrability, and formidable firepower (including cannons) with much-needed armour and self-sealing fuel tanks for improved survivability.
