Umbrella stands like this were a staple in well-appointed 19th century Victorian homes, often found in foyers, parlors, or estate entry halls. Brass examples with ornate handles and symbolic motifs—such as arrows—were popular among wealthier households and were frequently handcrafted by metalworkers rather than mass-produced. These stands served both practical and decorative purposes, showcasing fine workmanship while offering a durable place for umbrellas, walking sticks, and canes. Surviving examples with detailed motifs and tall sculptural handles are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

This piece has wonderful age-earned patina and displays beautifully despite its imperfections. A great addition for collectors of Victorian brass, early metalwork, entryway décor, or architectural antiques.
