This is a VERY RARE Highland Mint Barry Sanders Detroit Lions 1989 Topps 83T Rookie Bronze Mint-Card from their NFL sports collection. It is #0004 of ONLY 2500 made!

    I was told by the Ebay seller that I purchased this from in September, 2007, that it is THE FIRST ONE RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC!!! I can't prove it. I imagine the first 3 went to those at Highland Mint in 1994. I was a Highland volume Highland Mint dealer from Michigan who purchased lots of their items from 1994 to 1999, including higher numbers of this same card. I was never offered this low number. That is the reason for the listed price. Something for the very serious NFL Detroit Lions Barry Sanders collector.

    It is encased in thick, clear plastic. The #0004 is stamped or laser etched on the bottom edge of the card along with the word "BRONZE" as shown in one of the pictures.

    Note the amazing condition of the plastic clamshell case. Many of the older Highland Mint cases are cracked on the inside of the center hinge location and / or in the inside corners of the recessed area where the card sets. Mine has NO CRACKS!

     I have included many detailed pictures of the packaging for the serious collector so there are no surprises of its condition.

     I purchased this on Ebay in September, 2007 and have had it stored in a smoke-free home in a cardboard box ever since then. I have never displayed it. The wear on the top of the paper insert shown is from the previous owner. The slight wrinkles on the paper insert under the clear plastic that I point out in the pictures in the outer hinge area  may be from when the paper insert was installed during production. The clear plastic is undamaged in that area.
