Hot Rolled Carbon Steel Rectangle/Flat Bar is normally used for structural and industrial applications. This material can be Commercial Quality for smaller sizes and A36 for most other sizes.  This material offers good strength, high durability, heavy weight, easy weldability, and low cost. A36 steel is the most common low-carbon structural steel.

This material comes out of a manufacturing plant in Kansas.
