This deluxe cup, saucer and dessert plate set is from the world's most elegant train, the famous Orient Express. This set is demitasse size. The cup is about 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer is about 5 1/4 inches in diameter. The dessert plate is around 5 1/2 inches in diameter . Orient Express. The full name of the train was the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Both the cup and saucer are top-marked with the train's initials, "VSOE." Before the Channel tunnel was built, the train ran in two separate parts. One part was in England and the other part was on the European Continent. In between, passengers traveled by boat across the English Channel. On the Orient Express trains in England the china was a deep, dark brown. On the Orient Express trains on the Continent the china was blue. Both types were produced in Limoges, France. The sets were identical except for color. This is a dark brown set. A blue set is listed separately. This elegant cup and saucer set is in like-new condition. It has no chips or cracks or marks from use.
