I have used these boards with a regular tack iron and the chamfer provides a good result. I usually put a piece of paper over the plastic to add as padding between the comic and the plastic board and use SRP on the front cover. See video.

As these are 3D printed, they are not as smooth as glass. But haven't found this to be a problem, especially with the inner paper sleeve. The heat exposure is pretty short during pressing, so again no issues melting the boards while working. However, if the iron is left of a spot for a sustained period the board will melt (and the comic will likely have been damaged before hand due to heat).

Please test using comics that are of little value. We can't be held accountable for any damage incurred to comics when using this piece of equipment.
