Contents Description:

2 x Hanks of IN-HOUSE Hand-Dyed Embroidery Floss by us, An Abstract Atelier.

Total Weight (all hanks): 3.6 Grams (Approx. 16 Yards)
  • Deep Purple --> Magenta --> Bright Orange (1yd Precuts)
  • Bright Orange and Deep Yellow (1yd Precuts)
*****As of this writing (Nov. 2025), our flosses are ONLY available here on our eBay store and to personal friends in our local area. Please see below for a writeup on our dyeing philosophies.

Our threads come in various cuts (arm's length hand-embroidery cuts 19"-22", 1-yard precuts, larger hanks, on floss bobbins, etc. Some threads end up tangled and require cutting.) but are portioned by mass in Grams. A 100 gram cone of DMC 6-strand floss contains approx. 450 yards. Hence 1 gram = approx. 4.5 yards of DMC 6-strand floss. We strive to provide as much accurate information as possible!

4 x Classic Colorworks Hand Overdyed Floss

1 x 7yd Kreinik 8-ply Ombre "Misty Gold" (From original Kreinik Factory, handwound by An Abstract Atelier)

1 x 7yd Kreinik 8-ply Ombre "Misty Rainbow" (From original Kreinik Factory, handwound by An Abstract Atelier)

1 x 5yd Kreinik 1/16" Ribbon - Discontinued Colorway "Orchid" (From original Kreinik Factory, handwound by An Abstract Atelier)

Kreinik "Rescues" - Original-Factory Seconds*
3 x Class 15 Bobbins w. Bobbin Guards** (Blending filaments and thin braids, various colorways as shown)
1 x 5yd 1/8 Ribbon
1 x Partial (?) Spool

(*We purchased a bunch of Kreinik metallic threads from the now-closed West Virginia factory. Some of the threads came tangled or off-spools, some spools contained threads that had segments of damage, some of them had writing like "SAMPLE" or "DO NOT USE" written on the cones. These are all intended for hand-embroidery, and use in Sewing Machines is at user's own risk.

We are going through and salvaging as much as we can, then manually winding portions of it onto floss bobbins or Class 15 sewing machine bobbins. We are also re-winding and untangling partial or full spools. We are doing this in an effort to keep this beautiful polyester out of landfill and get it into works of fabric art! Sorry, some of these don't have colorway or length info since they are hand-wound. See photos for additional information. )

(**The Krenik website says that their 50M blending filament spools "fit nicely onto a Class 15 bobbin", so we have wound our blending filament portions onto Class 15s. At minimum they are 25+ yards, but probably closer to the 50yd mark. Manually wound by humans, no precise measurement available. )

18 x DMC 6-Strand 100% Cotton Hand-Embroidery Floss

1 x Package of BOHIN Chenille Needles - Made-in-France and re-packaged by An Abstract Atelier - 3 x #24 + 2x #22

1 x Approx 13"x18" piece of linen, unknown brand and count. Ruler provided for information. (Lots of Zweigart and similar in the same lot, but this piece had no label. Please note that I took some photos earlier, so the date on paper is wrong, but photos show the exact piece of linen in this listing.)

Listing Details:

Items in photos are grouped as best I could for visual clarity. If required for your project, please look up colorway numbers/names for further information and better photos from the manufacturers. Please don't rely on my photos to color-match for critical project purposes. Monitor calibration and color settings will affect appearance.

Feel free to message me about putting together custom eBay Listings for lots based on the items shown in my listings. No promises but I will do my best to accommodate :D

Our Philosophy and Capacity re: Hand-Dyeing (A.K.A. “Our Dyeing Wish”):

Our main focus is curation and distribution of crafting supplies, but our foray into dyeing came as a result of lifelong interest in the arts and crafting. We strive to learn as much as we can about as many different crafts, and over time have come to embrace and cultivate many disciplines including: Sewing, hand-embroidery, knitting, leatherwork, woodwork, guitar building, guitar effects-pedal building and circuits, miniature modeling and painting, fine arts, and more! Now, one of our most recent endeavors into autodidatic crafting has been the hand-dyeing of natural fibers like Cotton and Linen (flax) using fiber-reactive dyes.

We work in STEM fields, and it is unlikely our sales of Hand-Dyed fibers will ever become more profitable than our industry jobs so we are NOT aiming for massive expansion or up-scaling our batches. All of our hand-dyes come from tiny micro-batches out of our home in Wisconsin. We embrace the ideas of "perfect imperfections" and "unique is beautiful". As a result, we do NOT keep track of formulae or colorway information for our creations, and have no immediate plans to do so. By ordering our hand dyes, you are receiving  one-of-a-kind creations that would be hard to precisely replicate... even for us. Perfect for a special project where every detail demands thoughtful consideration and passion baked-in.

For us, this is an art we are trying to "keep alive" and a personal interest. The items you purchased were created by real, USA-based artisans creating purely for the sake of pleasure and learning. Beyond those of the base materials we use, our products have no profit-based ethics to even be considered. The people (mostly me, the owner, and my partner) fully own the supplies and materials we use to create, and we personally run this business working for ourselves.

We only sell items we find beauty in, even if it's not the beauty of perfection... thus our hand-dyes may be "imperfect," and often you will be supporting us by purchasing creative experiments as we work toward mastery of this delightful craft. However, we will never send you "flukes" (things we personally don't think look nice, or ruined batches). You will always be receiving the EXACT items shown in the photographs for our hand-dye listings, so please examine them carefully.

We cannot guarantee color matching via photographs or on monitors. We hope you enjoy the work we put into these colors made just for you.

Colorfastness Information:

Unless otherwise noted we use fiber-reactive dyes, which form covalent bonds with the cellulose fibers that make up natural plant-based fibers like Cotton and Flax. We then hand-wash the excess dyes out, before drying and possibly steam pressing. The resulting color should MOSTLY be colorfast, but we recommend doing tests and perhaps additional washing steps (especially with dyes containing reds or fuchsias) to ensure residual dyestuffs will not cause bleeding or other undesirable consequences. We are a relatively new dye shop, so we do not provide any colorfastness guarantees and our items are sold AS-IS.

The Fine Print:

Thanks for supporting a small US-based crafter/maker/business. I cannot compete on price with "the big players" so I hope to bring you value with custom/exclusive/valuable lots and a truly caring one-on-one customer service experience :)

I will make every attempt to package carefully and not damage items unnecessarily... This lot will be shipped with care, wrapped up and packaged well.

I am just a hobbyist/maker/painter running a tiny micro-business, so unfortunately I am unable to accept returns due to logistics issues. All sales are final and sold as-is, so please read carefully and examine all photos before purchase. We go through extra efforts to disclose even minor flaws to the best of our ability.

Please see store policies and disclaimers on our store page prior to purchase.

Thank you for your consideration and have a wonderful day!!
