A bright and cheerful vintage swinging clown doll dating to the 1980s, complete with its original wooden swing. The clown measures approximately 34cm tall (clown only, excluding swing and hanging rope). The swing is made from light wood with simple rope supports typical of 1980s giftware.
The clown has a ceramic, hand-painted face with the classic 80s export style: bold red markings, raised paint lines, yarn hair and a glossy finish. There is some paint bubbling and small surface flaws to the ceramic, plus glue residue in the hair, so this is being sold at a clearance price. These paint defects are common with 1980s Hong Kong/Taiwan ceramic production.
One hand has come loose from the swing, and should be an easy repair with thread or glue. The body is soft, the hands and feet are fabric, and the outfit is a bright blue-and-gold polka dot top with yellow satin trousers and an oversized bow and matching hat — all typical fabrics and colours used in 1980s novelty clown dolls.
