The antique square Masonic gatekeeper/guard jewel pin/badge is a historical collectible from the United States, specifically associated with the Masonic organization. This piece is a valuable relic of fraternal organizations and serves as a symbol of affiliation and membership within the Freemason community. With its square design and ties to the Masonic organization, this jewel pin/badge would be a sought-after item for collectors and enthusiasts of Masonic history and memorabilia. I'm not familiar with Masonic symbols just a little information I have but I think this is the gate keeper or the guard on the door of the lodge and you have to ask them to pass to let you in. So this is an important function of the lodge and this person was given the pin as a sign of his authority to allow entrance into the lodge. It is a very unique design with a keyhole on the bottom and a swing pendulum to allow the key to open the door. see photos it is 6 1/4" high and 4 1/2" wide and 1/2" depth. I forgot to mention the pin has a ribbon on top and that goes to a pin on the top that attaches to you suit. It has the square and compass and G emblem on this pin part also. It is made of brass.
