Coming from Bombardier's TRAXX MS2e platform, this locomotive offers many variants and therefore ideally meets the interoperability needs of rail freight transport in Central and Western Europe. It can be used on all European electricity networks.
From 1 January 2021 the RAlpin “Rolling Highway” from Freiburg im Breisgau to Novara Boschetto will be transported with class 186 locomotives. The 186 909 is the only SBB locomotive to have the eye-catching "Nightpiercer" design and therefore stands out from other machines.
