Used but functional MacBook Pro ca. mid-2012. Purchased in early 2013.

It is slow and it doesn't hold a good charge, but it works (see video). For the past 5 years I've only used it for CD ripping, photo storage and printing. I upgraded to 8GB of RAM about 8 years ago. I think this is one of the last models that you could take apart and work on yourself.

All of the ports work fine as far as I know. (I haven't used the ethernet, Firewire or Thunderbolt in over a decade.)

It has:
Keyboard and touchpad work well. Screen is nice--I used a protector on it for years.
Case shows normal wear, but I also had a protective case on it for a long time, so it's actually not too bad.

I cleaned the keyboard as well as I could.

The MagSafe charger is a replacement and is a little finicky, but it works (if you connect it with the correct side up--I wrote it on the plug). It might make a big difference to buy a new charger.

As of 2024, the last update it will accept is Catalina. AirDrop works great.
