Moldavite
New with tag. This is a stunning ring in size 9. The main gemstone is a genuine moldavite from Czechoslovakia, and the accent stones are chrome diopside and white zircon (a natural gemstone, not to be confused with the man made one by a similar name). The setting is real sterling silver stamped 925, and 14K gold vermeil over 925 sterling silver.
Moldavite was created when a meteorite hit the earth about 15 million years ago. This is a rare and valuable gemstone, only found in the Bohemian area of Europe.
The moldavite is a dark forest green, and as with most genuine moldavites, this stone does have some inclusions. It is a 9X7mm oval cut, and it weighs 1.4cts. Surrounding it is a halo of 2mm round cut bright green chrome diopsides. Above and below the diopsides glitters a row of small white zircons. The shoulder of the sterling silver setting is decorated with a star that is gilded with 14K gold vermeil, and has a bright green chrome diopside in the center of the star. The 16 chrome diopsides set in this ring add up to 0.6cts. All of the stones together in this pretty ring add up to 2.96cts. The sterling silver setting shows off the stones nicely, and the ring has a comfortable under gallery. This ring weighs 5.8 grams.
