Initial research shows that Walter Strutt was born on the 25th April 1894 at Scotter in Lincolnshire and was the son of William and Ann Elizabeth Strutt (nee Bateman). At the time of his birth, the family were living at Ings Farm, East Ferry, Lincolnshire. In January 11 1913, aged 18, Walter married Alice Gertrude Farmery at Scotter and East Ferry in Lincolnshire. During WW1 Walter served as a Gunner in The Royal Field Artillery. He died in Scunthorpe in June 1968 aged 74.
