Tektites are understood to be formed as a result of meteorite impact and are a natural glass formed when the meteorite hits the earth throwing up rock, earth etc. which heats to a dramatic temperature, fuses together and then cools down rapidly. This leaves tiny "craters" in the stone as with this piece.
