Text around edge “I Consent, She Replied, If You Promise That No Jealous Rival Shall Laugh Me To Scorn”, written in a blue border.
This is taken from a popular song based on The Thorn by John O’Keeffe. Circa 1850-60s.
This design is “The First Appeal” and is a sought-after example of Victorian Prattware pot lids, from around 1860-70 and is the 3rd issue 12cm diameter.
Glaze, print, top rim all in excellent condition.
