This is an original press photo. The surface of the water in the Weyrauch Canal off Belle Chasse Highway is clear today. Last year, The States-Item photographed this site covered with water hyacinths which threatened the flow of water during storms. Citizens of the area have complimented Jefferson Parish officials for getting the canal cleaned. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated --1970.
