This is a lot of 8 retro airline theme swizzle sticks:
2 x Pan Am swizzle sticks with "Pan Am" text in silver printed along the length of the stick. Pan American World Airways was a major American airline. The airline operated for decades before declaring bankruptcy in 1991.
2 x TWA swizzle sticks - Trans World Airlines (TWA), a former major American airline. In the 1970s, TWA produced plastic swizzle sticks in the shapes of symbols representing its major flight destinations. The tan stick has a Flamenco dancer on top and represents Spain. The other red swizzle stick is shaped as a propeller.
1 x Continental Airlines with a pineapple on the top. The airline history spans from its 1934 founding as Varney Speed Lines to its 2012 merger with United Airlines. The airline grew from a small mail carrier into a major international carrier. In the early 1970s Continental purchased four Boeing 747s specifically for its new Hawaiian services. The initial 747 flights to Honolulu were financially unsuccessful, featuring luxurious amenities but a high number of seats. The airline sold its 747s by 1974 and them with the more economical DC-10 aircraft for the Hawaii route.
Bradley International Airport blue swizzle stick with a jet plane on top. The airline history began in 1941 when the state purchased land and leased it to the federal government for a military air base, named Bradley Field in honor of Second Lieutenant Eugene M. Bradley, who died in a training accident there. The airport transitioned to civilian use in 1946, with commercial flights starting a year later. An International Arrivals wing was built in 1971.
Piedmont Airlines white swizzle stick with logo on the top. The airline was founded in 1940 as Piedmont Aviation and began passenger service in 1948, growing from a small regional carrier into a major airline that was eventually acquired by USAir in 1989. Known for its customer service, Piedmont pioneered the hub-and-spoke system and was the first regional airline to operate the Boeing 737.
Northwest Airlines Fan-Jet Airline - Northwest Orient proudly advertised itself as the "all fan-jet airline" after becoming the first U.S. airline to operate an entirely fan-jet powered fleet in 1963. This marketing campaign highlighted the airline's use of turbofan engines, which were a more modern and efficient type of jet engine. The logo on the top of this red swizzle stick was used by the airline between 1962 and 1969. After a long history, Northwest Airlines merged with Delta Air Lines in 2010, ceasing to exist as an independent airline and becoming part of the Delta fleet.
