Antique Circa 1850 Belt - Gusset Style Baseball Constructed with 2 pieces of leather.
This ball, as was the case with earlier baseballs, is undersized, compared to modern baseball.
This ball is well made with very tight seams and is in outstanding condition.
The ball has 2 belt style stitch closures, that are slightly different style.
I suspect the tighter seam was from the leather's previous usage (perhaps repurposed from shoe/booth leather) while the other seam was sewn during the baseballs making.
A great 19th century relic that dates to the early days of the American Pastime.
