What does a chic, hard-working fashion designer wear? Why Busy Gal, of course! A pert striped bow peeked out of Barbie's red suit, accented with a denim blue visor and belt; this was the outfit of a serious designer who meant business! This vintage Busy Gal outfit is in Excellent and Complete condition, and includes the tomato red suit jacket and skirt on a clear plastic dress form, striped halter blouse with bow, denim visor and belt, black cats eye glasses, black portfolio with 2 fashion drawings, and rare navy mules. Everything here is original vintage Mattel, nothing is reproduction. I don't rate anything as "Mint" unless I've just taken it out of the original packaging. I've
collected vintage Barbie for 30+ years, and I scrutinize items I sell
on eBay. If you have a question that my description hasn't answered,
please ask me:) You may want to save me as a seller, as I'm selling a large vintage Barbie collection on eBay.
Barbie's matching jacket and skirt look very nice and clean, with an intact snap at the skirt back. I will note that the fabric isn't starchy like a reproduction Busy Gal suit would be; it's not limp either, but this vintage nubby fabric is softer than the reproduction suit fabric. The halter blouse shows the most wear/use out of this outfit's parts, but I think it will still display well. The top has an intact loop/button and snap at the back. I will mention that upon close inspection, you can see light soil on the blouse's front, especially along the bust darts, and there is soil at the ends of the halter straps near the button and loop, see pics #6 & #7. The cute visor is crisp, and it has a clean striped lining that matches the top, see pics #3 & #4. The denim belt also is in great shape; I don't think it was used much at all. The cats eye glasses have intact lenses and good arms. The arms are pretty tight, like they haven't been put on a doll, so you might want to gently heat them with a hair dryer if you're going to display them on a doll.
The portfolio is in nice shape, with all three nylon ties at the sides. The corner protectors look good, with only slight edge wear on the front left one. The 2 drawings are original, and my main pic's lighting reflects off of the drawings' paper, making them look whiter than they actually are. The drawings are aged in color, with the bottom drawing a shade more aged than the top one, see pic #5 for a more accurate view. I will also note that the bottom drawing is slightly larger than the top one, but you could trim the larger one down if you like. The hard to find navy mules are marked Japan on the bottom of 1 shoe, and they don't have any cracks or splits.
