[The Australian Newspaper] 1988  Billboard Poster “US Sinks Iranian Warship In Gulf”

Dated at the foot in print “Tuesday April 19 1988”, two-colour poster (Black & red).

Following the mining of the USS Samuel B. Roberts on April 14th 1988 in International waters, American forces launched Operation Praying Mantis on Iranian naval forces in the Persian Gulf. Using both surface ships as well as airborne forces from the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, they struck a variety of targets including the Iranian frigate “Sahand” which was hit by two Harpoon and four laser-guided Skipper missiles. The resulting fires causing her magazines to explode, sinking the vessel. 

Approx. 420x600mm., folded and light yellowing, though overall in very good condition.
