ModLight2 is our module for E39/E38/E53/Range Rover L322. ModLight2 adds several new functions to your vehicle. It uses digital, two-way IBUS communication with your Bimmer, i.e. reads IBUS telegrams (for example, the ones that are transmitted from your GM module when you press remote key buttons or when you turn your key to ignition position) sends digital commands to turn on lights (welcome/goodbye lights) or to add additional blinks to turn signals (comfort turn signals function). We are giving our best to develop our modules with functions as close as possible to the OEM functions from newer Bimmer models. ModLight2 is fully compatible with the following models:
5 series-E39 (all features)
7 series-E38 with LCM (all features), non-compatible with E38 equipped with the LM, instead of LCM module;
X5 (E53) (all features)
Range Rover L322 (all features).
All LCM and GM modules versions are compatible. Installation in the car is really simple, you must only connect three wires to your car’s wire harness: constant (permanent) 12V source, GND (ground) and IBUS wire. All these wires can be found in many locations in your car.
Once you connect these three wires to your car, modLight2 module is ready to use. It has simple two buttons user interface which you can use for enable/disable or configure its functions.
