ANCIENT ROMAN CARNELIAN LEGIONARY IMPERIAL EAGLE INTAGLIO SEAL c200 AD 15K MOUNT

An ancient Roman semi-translucent agate intaglio seal, engraved with an aquila / imperial eagle stood on an alter, flanked by two signa / standards, beneath stars and a crescent moon. Later mounted in a fine quality solid 15 carat gold for wear as a stud.

CONDITION: All original and very, very good. Slight scratching / signs of wear commensurate with age and use. No damage etc.

DEFECTS: None.

DATE/MARKS: Seal 100/200 AD. Mounted around 1880/1900. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS: Seal approx 13 x 11 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm).

WEIGHT: Approx. 3.4 grams.
