1980 Press Photo Pablo Elvira in "Manon Lescaut" on PBS-TV's "Live From the Met"
This is an original press photo. Pablo Elvira, baritone from San Juan, Puerto Rico, makes his "Live From the Met" debut as the sophisticated rascal Lescaut in Puccini's "Manon Lescaut," which will be televised nationwide as part of the "Live From the Met" series on Saturday, September 27 over the Public Broadcasting Service. The Metropolitan Opera production, which was taped live at the March 29, 1980 performance, will also be simulcast in stereo on FM stations in some major cities. The opera will be telecast with English subtitles. Funding for this telecast is made possible by a grant from Texaco, Inc., with additional funding from the Charles E. Culpeper Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. The opera will be conducted by James Levine, Music Director of the Metropolitan OperaPhoto measures 8 x 10.25inches.
