15,600mAh of battery behind an 8W panel. Plenty of storage, and enough panel to keep it fed. That headroom matters most in the months when a solar camera has the least to work with: short December days, a north-facing wall, a week of overcast, a mounting spot shaded by a tree until noon. A smaller panel spends more than it collects in those conditions. This one is built with margin to spare.
Six 18650 cells, 4W while it is working and 0.003W sitting idle. It spends most of its life in that second number.
Infrared LEDs reach 98ft (30m) for classic black-and-white night footage. The white-light LEDs reach the same distance and give you full color instead. Leave it automatic and the camera switches as the light drops, or take manual control in the app and hold it in color all night.
The number that goes with it: the camera triggers on movement within 39ft (12m). Farther out you are watching the live view or reviewing the recording rather than getting a phone alert. Seeing range and trigger range are two different specs on every battery camera made; most listings only print the flattering one.
A PIR sensor watches for movement and AI human-shape recognition decides whether it was a person. Cars on the street, a dog crossing the yard and a branch in the wind mostly do not make the cut.
And you can tune it. Four sensitivity levels in the app, and the level also sets the reaction time: the highest starts recording about a second after it detects movement, the lowest waits several. Busy road out front? Turn it down instead of turning the camera off.
Your Wi-Fi has to be 2.4GHz. It will not join a 5GHz network — almost no outdoor camera will, because 2.4GHz is the band that carries to the far end of a yard. Nearly every router broadcasts both and you need do nothing; if yours is set to 5GHz only, switch 2.4GHz on before the camera arrives.
No memory card in the box. It records to a microSD card up to 128GB, which you supply. Without one, footage lives in the cloud only.
How it reaches you. The free UBox app pushes a notification the moment the camera triggers, and the camera carries its own siren and flashing light. It does not place a phone call — no camera at this price does, whatever the listing claims.
Two minutes at setup, worth it: Do Not Disturb silences push alerts by default. On iPhone, add UBox under Settings → Focus → Do Not Disturb → Allowed Apps. On Android, set the UBox notification channel to Priority.
Everyone at home can watch. Share the camera to other UBox accounts and choose what each person may do — live view, playback, microphone. Share with as many people as you like; three can watch at once, one can talk at a time.
Nothing to subscribe to. Viewing your camera and using the app is free, permanently. Cloud storage is optional — around $4 a month per camera with a free trial, priced by the platform rather than by us. A memory card does the same job for nothing, which is why most owners never subscribe.
Good spots: driveways, backyards, garages and shops, barns and outbuildings, side gates, RV and boat parking, anywhere shaded or north-facing, and anywhere the yard is big enough that you need to see to the far end after dark.
