Mediterranean tortoises such as Hermann, Marginated and Turkish spur-thigh tortoises graze up to 50% grass. In their natural habitats they graze grassy meadows with wildflowers and herbs.

It is important feed dry grass products all year so your tortoises are used to them whenever fresh graze is unavailable. Species that live in drier climates where flowers and leafy greens are less available can have up to 75% grass in their diet. Particularly species that live in Savannah and semi-arid habitats such as Sulcata, Leopard and other tortoises that live in grassland habitats.
