The novel "The Case of Set El-Hassan" is the first installment in the "Investigations of Noah Al-Alfi" series by Mirna El-Mahdi. The story comprises three interconnected cases, where detective Noah Al-Alfi and his colleague Qutuz confront a series of mysterious and complex crimes. The events begin with the brutal murder of a student, whose body is found in her car at Tahrir Square. Subsequent crimes occur in horrific manners, such as a famous journalist burning to ashes without any other part of his apartment being affected by fire, the wife of a well-known producer being thrown from her balcony on New Year's Eve, and finally, the poisoning of 15 street children under mysterious circumstances. Noah Al-Alfi is distinguished by his ability to see what others cannot, aiding him in unraveling the mysteries of these cases.

Quote: "A student is brutally slaughtered and left in her car at Tahrir Square. A famous journalist turns to ashes, and astonishingly, the fire did not touch anything else in his apartment, with a message from an unknown person written on the wall behind him: 'Allahu Akbar'."
