- The Ra II was a papyrus reed boat built in 1970 by explorer Thor Heyerdahl.
Constructed in Morocco using 12 tons of papyrus and ancient Egyptian techniques, it was designed to prove that ancient civilizations could cross the Atlantic. The boat successfully sailed from Morocco to Barbados, covering 6,100 km in 57 days. It remains a legendary symbol of how ancient Egyptian maritime technology was capable of conquering the open ocean.
