Overview
This MagCAD top bearing cover allows you to mount the Specialized Tarmac SL7 stem to your compatible Specialized Venge (2019-2021) road bike. and minimise the headset stack height for a "slammed" setup.

The Tarmac SL7 stem has been continued with the launch of the Tarmac SL8 and is a lighter alternative to the stock Venge stem, now discontinued. The Tarmac SL7 stem is easier to source in various lengths and angles, thus allowing for better adjustment of your riding position.

By replacing the entire top bearing cover and reducing the headset stack height this component is particularly useful for those who have short fork steerers, cut down for the slim profile of the Venge alloy stem that comes as stock with the bike.

Electronic internal cable routing is supported in exactly the same way as the existing Specialized Venge setup.

Please note: This MagCAD Top Bearing Cover is only compatible with electronic shifting and does not support the additional cables for mechanical shifting.

Application
All MagCAD headset parts are 3D printed in a durable Nylon to ensure they are robust to many years of use. As with any steering related components they should be installed by a competent mechanic and inspected regularly. Incorrect assembly or mis-use may result in damage to the headset components and/or injury.

Particular care should be taken to ensure the internal cable routing is installed correctly and checked periodically.

This MagCAD Top Bearing Cover has a height of 10.9mm. With the Specialized Tarmac SL7 stem having a clamp height of 31mm this makes for a total stack height of 41.9mm. Compared with the following OEM Venge parts; top bearing cover (11.9mm), top spacer (5.3mm) and the alloy stem (34mm), which make up the lowest headset setup with OEM parts, the MagCAD Top Bearing Cover reduces your handlebar height by 9.3mm.

Allowing for the 3mm steerer tube cut specified by Specialized you will therefore require 38.9mm of fork steerer, measured from the top bearing split compression ring to the top of the steerer.

Compatible With:
  • Specialized Tarmac SL7 stem.
  • Specialized Venge (2019-2021) road bike.
Material
MagCAD Mounts are 3D printed in Nylon PA12. However these are not your typical home 3D printers. Following a process of SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) on industrial size printers, costing anything above £100k, the resulting mounts have fantastic resolution and refinement. The surface finish is slightly rough with a matte effect and the performance of the mounts are comparable to injection moulded parts.

Customisation
As with all MagCAD items it's more than possible to tweak or change the design to suit your particular installation. Feel free to get in contact for more details.
