Print of German artist Carlo Demand's gouache painting showing the Porsche 356B/1600GS Carrera GTL Abarth that Herbert Linge and Heini Walter drove to a class win and 10th place overall finish in the 1960 Le Mans 24 Hour race.
Carlo Demand was an accomplished German artist and prolific illustrator. Motorsports artists as accomplished as Peter Helck were impressed by Demand's skill. Helck wrote about Demand: "...the very best of these works are beyond my skills. There are a dozen in the [print] set which amaze me and I believe [one of them] to be just about the finest racing bit of art I have ever seen."
As published in the Carlo Demand and Michael Riedner book, Porsche Renngeschichte in Bildern (Racing History in Pictures). Print is rendered on an acid-free bright white book stock. Printed back.
Print is in excellent condition. Overall measurement: 11 3/4" x 9" (30cm x 23cm). Printed image measures roughly 10" x 5 1/4" (26cm x 13.5cm).
