Reinforced timing belt
Reinforced timing belt that best matches HKS Slide Cam Pulley.
The strength of the belt itself has been optimised for each engine.
It can be used in combination with HKS Slide Cam Pulley for higher output and higher RPM.
Optimised strength of the timing belt for each car model. Designed to follow the heat expansion of the engine and to stabilize the tension of the timing belt.
In the conventional timing belt manufacturing method, pressure is applied from the outside to form the teeth, but this causes a reduction in belt strength because the timing belt is formed with tensile force applied to the tooth cloth.
To solve this problem, a new technology is adopted where the tooth cloth is filled with rubber in a way that the tooth cloth is aligned with the mould in advance. This ensures the strength of the tooth cloth and prevents chipping of the teeth due to high torque.
◆Highly saturated H-NBR is used for the tooth rubber to achieve even higher strength.
Balancer belt is also available for 4G63 engine. By using the timing belt and balancer belt together, it is possible to reduce the adverse effects on the engine and also on the car body.
◆Necessity of balancer belt replacement
Balancer belts are installed with the idea of reducing overall engine vibration by providing vibration opposite to that of the engine.
The stock balancer belt is designed to cancel out the most vibration during steady-state driving, so if the engine is used frequently at high revs, such as in circuit driving, the load on the balancer belt will increase as well as the increase in vibration.
The balancer belt is turned at twice the speed of the crankshaft, so it stretches more easily than other belts, causing the rotation of the balancer shaft to be out of sync with the engine rotation, increasing vibration and in the worst case, possibly causing damage to the balancer belt.
Therefore, by using a reinforced balancer belt when replacing the timing belt, the balancer shaft can be rotated in precise phase with the crankshaft, reducing the negative effects on the engine and bodywork.
