Crockett wrote or co-wrote all 14 songs, and it is the first album he made with his band The Blue Drifters backing him from start to finish. Recorded mostly in first takes, live to tape with producer Bruce Robison, the album refines Crockett's singular "Gulf & Western" sound and follows a loose narrative thread. "The magic is in the performances on that tape," Crockett says.
