Heathcote Williams c.1975 Rare Performance Poster For The Green Man Pub, Euston Road, London

A very interesting poster for an evening’s entertainment at the famous Green Man pub (on the corner of Euston Road and Great Portland Street) on Tuesday September 16th (1975). The bill featured “The Warp(?) Band” with Heathcote Williams name appearing immediately below, with “The Lawnmowers with Charlie da Vinci” at the foot. The entrance price of 75p included “free food”. A bloodhound type dog provides background decoration for the poster, though with unknown context.

The date isn’t noted on the poster, however the only time September 16th fell on a Tuesday during the 1970’s was in 1975. The one prior to that was in 1968, so obviously before decimalisation. The style of the design and entrance cost of 75p would seem to suggest a date during the 1970’s, rather than a later decade. Sadly, there doesn’t appear to be anything known about the bands taking part or what Williams was performing that evening.

Approx. 297x420mm., the corners appear to have had an old blu-tack type substance in the four corners, which has been removes. Some old age discolouration and soiling present as well as light wrinkling. A fine survivor.
