This happy, birght stained glass painting by Maryrose Wampler is a symbol of the joy of springtime. Shown in the brilliance of translucent colors are daffodils, emperor tulips, hyacinths and narcissus.  A tiger swallowtail butterfly hovers above. Each sepal, petal and pistil -- as well as every other detail -- is painted exactly as they are in nature.  About her painting for the stained glass, Maryrose Wampler said, "I think of it as the way water colors might look if they were painted by God with light as His canvas."

Craftsmen apply the colors one by one in perfect register in order to create the palette of hues on glass, Then the colors are fired at 1100 degrees on the glass fusing them permanently together (they will not fade).  Artisans of Jefferson Pewter spin the pewter rim and polish it to a lustrous finish.  Then they insert the stained glass round, held in place with a pewter bezel into the rim.

May have minor scratch marks from polishing on the polished side of the pewter, but not distracting as you can see in the photos.
