Glastonbury c.1980’s/90’s Collection of Community Magazines and Ephemera

An interesting group of fifteen items from the 1980’s and 90’s comprising:

Glastonbury Communicator Magazine: Six issues comprising No. 1 (December 1984, the front cover decorated by hand with marker pens), No. 6 , 7, 8, 9, and 11 (published between 1985-86)

Full Circle Magazine: A copy of the only issue of this zine which was published by Chris Black in 1982. It includes an interview with Michael Eavis. 

c.1985 8pp (two folded photocopied A4 size sheets) “FOG News 2 No Festival at Greenlands”. A hurriedly photocopied newsletter produced during 1985 when a group of around 200 travellers (called the “hippy invasion” at the time) set up camp at Greenlands Farm on the outskirts of Glastonbury. This newsletter was produced by FOG (the Federation of Greenlanders) who had set up camp and is a haphazard mix of news and drawings.

Two identical 1985 A4 photocopied posters for the proposed “Charity Benefit Gig For Heavensgate Animal Sanctuary and Glastonbury Ethiopia Appeal” which was due to take place at Greenlands Farm on the outskirts of Glastonbury on Saturday June 8th 1985 before being cancelled. Both 210x295mm., 

A new age poster titled “Glastonbury 1989” by the artist Rose Leicester, which is also dated “June 1989” in the artist’s imprint, so may have been unofficially sold at that year’s Glastonbury Festival. A foliate border includes a green cannabis leaf. Folded. Approx. 300x430mm.

Glastonbury Alternative Visitors Guide Issue No.1 June 1995, 18pp

1989 photocopied double-sided A4 sheet advertising the GAS record label which was (and still is) based in Glastonbury, largely news and gig information about the band Gong who were signed to Gas. Approx. 210x295mm.

An A4 photocopied poster for “Carry on up the Tor (The Sword and the Stoned)” at the Assembly Rooms in Glastonbury. Undated, but probably c.1990’s.

An unnamed “Friends of the Assembly Rooms Glastonbury” membership card.

Overall in mixed condition, with rusted staples to the magazines, some tears and staining also present.
