Very detailed and heavily embroidered and signed artwork (see last photo).  The embroidery includes a number of different stitches.  The fabric is believed to be silk and it measures 18" in height x  17" in width. The embroidered area measures 12" in height  x  11 1/2" in width.
The stitching may be both machine embroidered and hand embroidered- please refer to photos. Little is know about the origin or history of the artwork as it was from the estate of a family member.

MS Bing AI (Copilot) was asked to do a general analysis of the style of this textile artwork; here is the result:

“Based on the artistic style and elements present in the textile artwork, it appears to be reminiscent of Madhubani art, also known as Mithila painting. Madhubani art originates from the Mithila region in Bihar, India. This traditional folk art is characterized by intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and depictions of nature, mythology, and daily life.”

MS Bing AI (Copilot) was asked to analyze this artwork for spiritual significance; here is the result:

1.     “Meditative Pose: The central figure sitting cross-legged with raised arms and closed eyes suggests a meditative or contemplative state. In various spiritual traditions, meditation is a practice for connecting with higher consciousness or seeking inner peace.

2.     Sun Symbolism: The sun illustration on the left side often carries spiritual significance. In many cultures, the sun represents life, energy, and enlightenment. It can symbolize divine illumination or cosmic energy.

3.     Nature Elements: The embroidered plants and trees on the right side evoke a connection to nature. Nature is often revered in religious and spiritual contexts. Trees, for instance, symbolize growth, wisdom, and interconnectedness.

4.     Heart Symbol: The heart-shaped design on the yellow top could symbolize love, compassion, or devotion. Hearts are commonly associated with spiritual love and emotional well-being.

5.     Color Choices: The vibrant colors—red, white, and yellow—may hold specific meanings. For example:

a.     Red: Symbolizes passion, vitality, and transformation.

b.     White: Represents purity, spirituality, and transcendence.

c.     Yellow: Often associated with enlightenment, joy, and positivity.

6.     Overall Composition: The harmonious arrangement of these elements suggests a spiritual narrative. While I cannot pinpoint a specific religious tradition, the artwork seems to celebrate themes of inner exploration, connection to nature, and perhaps divine presence.”
