*** 20s Jazz pioneer *** Interesting and important early black Jazz 78 from 1921. Pioneer African-American conductor, arranger, composer, and pianist James Timothy "Tim" Brymn (October 5, 1874 or 1881 – October 3, 1946). Brymn wrote (or co-wrote with Cecil Mack) songs from the start of 1900, was the leader of the 70 piece military band, The Black Devils during WWI. In 1919 his orchestra performed at the opening of the Paris Peace Conference, in front of President Woodrow Wilson. His group was said to have introduced jazz to France. It plays neat for a 100+ year old "acoustic recorded" disc. A wobble in wax that has no effect on play (but might need some extra weight on tone-arm to play thumb free).
