Brass Door Furniture (Knobs, Hinges, Bolts, Yale
Lock, Pull handle, Letterbox) - USED
Please see photographs, rather than me writing a fully detailed Description.
These are all the brass fittings from our old double front doors (see photos).
They’ve all been cleaned up a certain amount, but not perfectly!
(In the following descriptions, the sizes are approximate.)
1: 2 x ‘Centre’ Door Knobs Solid brass (each one weighs about 200 gm)
Domed octagonal shape
Diameter (flat to flat): 6 cm
Extension from the door: just over 7 cm
With face plates, securing nuts and washers
2: 6 x Heavy duty hinges Solid brass, with steel central pins (each one weighs about 125 gm)
Dimensions (folded flat): 10 x 3.5 cm
Each hinge with its 8 securing screws
3: 4 x Bolts I THINK they are brass-plated steel (each one weighs about 195 gm)
Sliding action
About 2 cm wide, and the sliding part of the bolt is 14.5 cm
With securing screws
4: Yale Lock The main part of the lock itself is brass-plated steel – stronger than all
brass
The part where the lock latches in (the “Keep”, mounted on the jamb), and the
external rim are solid brass
With all securing screws
With 3 keys
I BELIEVE it’s a 5-lever tumbler lock, but I can’t guarantee that . . .
5: ‘Grab handle’ Solid brass
We bought and fitted this because, when the opening wooden door swelled after
rain, it would jam against the threshold, and be very difficult to open – it
was much easier with the ‘grab handle’ fitted.
Overall length 12 cm; the loop of the handle about 9 cm
With 2 securing screws
6: Letterbox Solid brass, with ‘rope’ design border (weighs about 195 gm)
Overall size: 27.5 x 9 cm
Aperture: 20 x 4.7 cm
Securing threads about 24 cm apart (the steel threads, about 6.6 cm long, screw
into the back of the facing plate, and are secured on the inside of the door by
a washer and a nut.
The flap on the inside of the aperture has got a broken spring (see 2nd
photo), so can flap and rattle a bit when it’s windy. The spring could probably
be replaced fairly easily. (I never got round to it!)
There is another hinged flap on the inside of the door, with 2 small plates
fitted at the ends – securing screws included).
All items quite old, but still in good operational condition.
(But note the comment about the letter-box flap.)

About us We are Ann and Derek, an old married couple,
trying to “de-clutter”, to reduce the eventual burden on our family.
We have two eBay accounts: *anntique*, where we try to sell our antique
and collectable items; and DerekTheTortoise, where we offer items from
around the house, garden and garage.
We try to be as accurate and honest as we can in our Descriptions, working on
the principle of “Do as you would be done by”; we will sometimes make mistakes
. . . We are always happy to answer questions.
As far as possible, we use recycled packaging materials, such as cereal boxes,
supermarket boxes and bubble-wrap, screwed-up freebie newspapers, and so on.
And we tend to find the most economical method of shipping, be it Royal Mail or
a courier; if we find we have over-charged significantly, we will offer a
partial refund.
We generally wait until we have received feedback from our Buyer before posting
our own; that way we can reflect the level of success of the transaction.
