Here is a beautiful woven silk textile that depicts Empress Eugenie and Napoleon III immersed in a floral landscape of blue, red, pink and green. It measures approx. 6" by 9 1/2" and is affixed to its light card stock backing at the upper left and right corners. At the bottom right of the textile are the letters LF. C. 1855. On the reverse side of the card it is written in pencil that this was exhibited at the Crystal Palace in London, England in 1862. Along its green border, some of its fanciful tuft details are missing and there are light foxing spots scattered over the surface, most notably along its bottom border. The top and bottom edges are a bit rough but these certainly can be cropped or matted out which I'll leave up to you. The portrait of the couple is rendered in black, grey and silver threads. Unique. Thanks for looking at this auction.
